TROG 16.02 (Local HER-0)
Primary sponsor: Trans Tasman Radiation Oncology Group (TROG)
Title
A phase II study of local therapy only (stereotactic radiosurgery and/or neurosurgery) for treatment of up to 5 brain metastases from HER2+ breast cancer
Summary
For patients who have HER2 positive breast cancer which has spread to the brain (metastasised) the main treatment options for these brain metastases are as follows:
- Whole Brain Radiotherapy (WBRT), or
- Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), or
- Neurosurgery (NS)
This study aims to show that brain metastases are able to be controlled by SRS and/or NS without the need for WBRT.
